River Mtkvari divides the city into two parts. Old neighborhoods on its right and left banks are built on the mountain-girded cavernous slants. Ancient Narikala fortress, which was built in the 4th century, glances over the city. It is a renowned architectural monument. The fortress was a defense structure of a complex system, which was fortified with the firm walls, towers and bastions.
The whole city unfolds in front of you from Narikala and if you'd like to see the night city, this is the place to visit. You may either walk or drive to the fortress, but the most compelling way to get there is a cable car, which departs from Rike Park and leads straight to Narikala.
