Svan Towers

One of the highest standing settlements in Europe is the village of Chazhashi in the Ushguli community, which was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Svans used to build 20-25-meter-high towers, which consisted of 4-5, rarely 6 stories, next to their dwellings, the machubi, for defense purposes.
