Plane Tree

900-year-old Plane Tree stands in the center of the town, in front of the royal residence and looks over the Alazani valley. Countless legends circulate about this tree and according to one of them, King Tamar has planted it. There is no official source confirming it, but this much is known: in the 19th century, honorable guests were received under its shadow. This is the spot where the town hosted the great 19th-century public figure - Ilia Chavchavadze and the most famous poet - Akaki Tsereteli. Some people believe that if you make a wish at the tree it will definitely come true. You may not believe most of it, but one thing is evident: 900-year-old Plane Tree is a great inspiration for any visitor.
